About Jenny

Jenny Austin is a writer, editor, and longtime advocate of children and families affected by armed conflict and displacement, family reunification, and child and maternal health and well-being. She has worked for many years for nonprofits, philanthropies, humanitarian NGOs, United Nations agencies, as well as a couple of special independent bookshops. Jenny has written and edited publications and global field manuals for nonprofit and humanitarian organizations such as UNICEF, the United Nations Development Programme, and the Women’s Refugee Commission.

She fiercely loves her friends and family, hiking, baking, reading, eating tacos, traveling, and being in nature. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, Jenny holds master's degrees from New York University and the University of Oxford on the topics of refugee studies, and family reunification and cultural memory in the context of diaspora. Born and raised in the United States, Jenny lives with her husband and children in Switzerland.
